The beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church

The beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Seventh-day Adventists accept the Bible as the rule of faith and consider the following beliefs as the fundamental teachings of Scripture. These beliefs illustrate how the church understands the biblical teaching and testified. A new version is expected during a plenary meeting of the General Conference (World Synod), when the church is led by the Holy Spirit to a fuller understanding of Bible truth or finds better language to express the teachings of God's Holy Word.

The Holy Scriptures

The Scriptures - Old and New Testament - is the written word of God, entrusted by divine inspiration holy men, who have spoken and written, moved by the Holy Spirit. In this word God gave man the knowledge, which is knowledge necessary for salvation. Scripture is the infallible revelation of His will. It is the measure of the character and the test of experience. It is the authoritative revealer of doctrines, and the trustworthy record of God's acts in history.

The Trinity

There is one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit - three, a unity of eternity. God is immortal, omnipotent and omniscient; he is above everything and is omnipresent. He is infinite and beyond human comprehension. Nevertheless, it can be identified because he has revealed himself. He is forever honor, worship and service by the whole creation.

5 Mo 6.4; 28:19; 2 Ko 13:13; Eph 4,4 -6; 1 Pt 1,2; 1 Tim 1:17; Rev 14.7.

 The father

God the Eternal Father, Creator, Source, Sustainer, and Lord of all creation. He is just and holy, merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. The qualities and powers exhibited in the Son and the Holy Spirit, they express, are equally revelations of the Father.

 The son

God, the eternal Son, became man in Jesus Christ. Through him all things were created, the character of God revealed, causing the salvation of mankind and the world is judged. Forever truly God, He became also truly man, Jesus Christ. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived as a man, was tried as a man and was, but perfectly exemplified the righteousness and love of God. His miracles testified to the power of God and confirmed him as the promised Redeemer of God. He suffered and died voluntarily for our sins in our place on the cross, was raised from the dead and ascended to heaven to serve for us in the heavenly sanctuary. He will come again in glory for the final deliverance of His people and the restoration of all things.

The Holy Spirit

God the eternal Spirit was active with the Father and the Son in Creation, incarnation, and redemption. He inspired the writers of Scripture. He filled Christ's life with power. He draws people to God and transferred them their sin. The open respond He renews and transforms them in God's image. Sent by the Father and the Son to be always with God's children, the Holy Spirit gives the church spiritual gifts, empowers her to witness to Christ and forwards them in accordance with the Scriptures into all truth.

 The creation

God is the Creator of all things. He has in Scripture reveals the authentic account of His creative activity. In six days the Lord "heaven and earth" and all living things created on earth and rested the seventh day of that first week. He established the Sabbath as a perpetual memorial of His completed creative work. The first man and the first woman were created as a crown of creation "in the image of God". You given dominion over the earth and to preserve the responsibility it. The creation was finished it was "very good" and proclaimed the glory of God.

1 Mo 1 and 2; 2 Mo 20.8 -11; Ps 19.1 to 7; 33,6.9; 104; Heb 11.3.

 The human being

Man and woman were created in the image of God with the power and the freedom to think and to do as. The man is an indivisible unity of body, soul and spirit and - although as a free being created - depending on God in his life and in everything he needs to live. When Adam and Eve, our first parents, God were disobedient, they denied their dependence upon Him and fell from their high position under God. The image of God in them was marred and they became subject to the power of death. Since then, all people sin and its consequences are. They are born with weaknesses and tendencies to evil. Through Christ but reconciled God the world to himself, and by the Holy Spirit in mortal men, who are willing to repent, restored the image of its creator. To honor God created, they are called to love Him and one another, and to care for their environment.

 The big fight

All of humanity is drawn into a great controversy between Christ and Satan, when it comes to the nature of God, his law and his rule over the universe. This dispute originated in heaven when a created being, endowed with freedom, in self-exaltation Satan became the adversary of God. Also a part of the angels he deceived to riot. When Satan, Adam and Eve into sin, he brought the spirit of rebellion into this world. Sin has defaced the image of God in man and brought the created world in disarray. It was finally destroyed by a worldwide flood. Our earth is for all creation arena of the universal conflict, out of which the God of love will ultimately prove to be the rightful winner. Christ sends the Holy Spirit and His angels to assist His people in their struggle to lead to protect and preserve on the way of salvation.

Life, death and resurrection of Christ

The life of Christ in perfect obedience to God's will, his suffering, his death and resurrection are the only means to atone for the sin of man. Those who accept this caused by God reconciliation in faith, hath everlasting life. The whole creation may better understand the infinite and holy love of the Creator. This perfect atonement vindicates the righteousness of God's law and reveals God's goodness. This condemns our sin and at the same time opened a way for their forgiveness. Christ substitutionary death has atoning, reconciling and transforming. Resurrection proclaims God's triumph over the forces of evil and secures all that can be reconciled, final victory over sin and death at the end of the world time. In his resurrection is manifest that Christ is Lord. Before whom every knee should bend in heaven and on earth.

 The experience of redemption

God has "made who knew no sin, sin for us" in His infinite love and mercy of Christ, so that we are justified before God through him. Through the Holy Spirit we sense our need, acknowledge our sinfulness, repent of our sins and believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior, the representative gave himself for us and our model is. This faith that leads to salvation comes through the power of God's Word and is the gift of his grace. Through Christ we are justified, adopted as God's sons and daughters, and delivered from the dominion of sin. Through the Spirit we are born again and sanctified. The Spirit renews our minds, writes God's law of love in our hearts and gives us the power to live a holy life. Abiding in Him we become partakers of the divine nature and have the assurance of salvation now and in the court.

 Growing in Christ

By his death on the cross Jesus triumphed over the forces of evil. He who subjugated the demonic spirits during His earthly ministry has broken their power and sealed its final demise. Jesus victory also gives us victory over the evil forces that want us still dominate. Now we can live with Jesus in peace, joy and the assurance of his love. The Holy Spirit dwells in us and gives us strength. In stable relationship with Jesus as our Savior and Lord, we are freed from the burden of past actions, the dark sides of our past life, fear of evil powers, ignorance and meaninglessness. In this new freedom with Jesus we are called to grow and become more like Him. This is done in communion with God in prayer and His Word in daily devotions, in thinking about his divine guidance, the singing of hymns, the congregation in worship and participation in mission of the church. While we serve others in love and salvation through Christ testify, turns his constant presence in the Spirit every moment and every task into a rewarding experience with God.

 The community

The church is the community of believers who confess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. As God's people in the Old Testament is also the church of Jesus called out of the world. You unites for worship, for fellowship, for instruction in the Word, to celebrate the Lord's Supper, for service to others and to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world. The municipality receives its authority from Christ, the incarnate Word, and from the Scriptures, the written word. The church is the family of God. Her limbs, accepted by him as children living on the basis of the New Covenant. The community is a community of faith, it is the body of Christ, whose head he is. She is the bride for whom Christ died, that he might sanctify and cleanse. On his return in glory he will put them in perfect beauty before him. There are the faithful of all time, purchased with his blood, without spot or wrinkle, holy and without blemish.

 The remainder and its mission

The global community is composed of all who truly believe in Christ. But in recent times, a time of widespread apostasy is a crowd of the others called out to adhere to the commandments of God and to preserve the faith of Jesus. This remnant announces that the hour of judgment has come, preach that there is redemption through Christ, and proclaim the approach of His second coming. The three angels of Revelation 14 are symbols of this proclamation. It is accompanied by the judgment in heaven and on earth leads to a movement of repentance and renewal. Every believer is invited to participate in this worldwide witness.

 The unity of Christ's Church

The church is one body with many members, called from every nation, kindred, tongue and people. In Christ the believers are a new creation. Racial, cultural, educational periodical, national, social and societal differences and differences between man and woman must not be divisive among us. In Christ all the same, put together by one Spirit into communion with him and with each other. We serve each other, without partiality or reservation. Because Jesus Christ has revealed in Scripture, join us a faith and a hope - that we witness to all. This unit has its origins in the oneness of the triune God who has adopted us as his children.

 Baptism

Through baptism we confess our faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and testify that we are dead to sin and determined to lead a new life. We recognize Christ as Lord and Savior, his people are added and accepted as members of His church. Baptism is a symbol of our union with Christ, for the forgiveness of our sins and to receive the Holy Spirit. It is accomplished by immersion in the profession of faith in Jesus Christ and as a sign of repentance for sin. It follows instruction advance in the Holy Scriptures and acceptance of their teachings.

 communion

During the sacrament, we partake of the character of the body and blood of Jesus. We take the bread and wine to us and so bring our faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, expressed. In this experience of communion Christ is present to be among his people and to strengthen it. By partaking of the sacrament, we joyfully proclaim the Lord's death until he comes back. In preparation includes self-examination, repentance and confession of sin. The Lord commanded also the service of foot washing. The washing of feet is a symbol of renewed cleaning, an expression of willingness to serve one another in humility as Christ did, and to join our hearts in love. At supper every Christian believer can participate.

 Spiritual gifts and services

God equips the members of His church in every age spiritual gifts. Each member is to use the loaned him gifts in loving service to the benefit of the community and fellow man. These gifts, allocated by the spirit, in its discretion, enabling the faithful to all services that need the community to fulfill the tasks assigned to it by God. According to the magazine include: faith, healing, prophecy, proclamation, teaching, administration, reconciliation, compassion, selfless service and charity, help others are helped and they are encouraged. Some members are called of God, equipped by the Holy Spirit and approved by the municipality for the service as a pastor, evangelist, teacher or manager. They are particularly used to train the members of the church for the service, to lead the church to spiritual maturity, and to foster unity of the faith and in the knowledge of God. When members employ these spiritual gifts as faithful stewards of God's varied grace, the church is protected from the destructive influence of false doctrine, is growing in the pre-from God, and strengthened in faith and love.

 The gift of prophecy

One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church and was manifested in the ministry of Ellen G. White. The messenger, her writings of the Lord are a continuing and authoritative source of truth which provide for the church comfort, guidance, instruction, and correction. They also make clear that the Bible is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested.

Joel 3,1.2; Acts 2:14 -21; Hbr 1,1 -3; Rev 12:17; 19.10.

 The law of God

The basic principles of God's law are embodied in the Ten Commandments and exemplified in the life of Jesus Christ. In the commandments God's love, his will and his intentions for the lives of people find expression - for their behavior and for interpersonal relationships. The Ten Commandments are binding on the people of all times, based on God's covenant with his people and scale in God's judgment. Through the Holy Spirit they point out sin and awaken the desire for a savior. Salvation is all of grace and not by works; but its fruitage is obedience to the commandments. This obedience helps develops Christian character and leads to inner peace. It expresses our love for the Lord and our concern for others. The obedience of faith demonstrates the power of Christ to change a person's life, and therefore strengthens Christian witness.

 The Sabbath

After six days of creation God rested, attentive to our well, on the seventh day and instituted the Sabbath for all people as a memorial of Creation a. The fourth commandment of God's unchangeable law requires the sanctification of the seventh day of the week as a day of rest, worship and serving, as us Jesus Christ, the Lord of the Sabbath, taught and lived. The Sabbath is a day of delightful communion - with God and one another. He is a symbol of our redemption in Christ, a sign of our sanctification, an expression of our faith and a foretaste of eternal life in God's kingdom. The Sabbath is God's perpetual sign of His eternal covenant with his people. Joyful observance of this holy time from evening to evening, sunset to sunset, God celebrates creative and redemptive action.

God stewards

We are stewards of God. He has entrusted us with time and opportunities, abilities and possessions, and the earth and their goods. For rational use so that we are responsible to God. We recognize God as the owner when we serve him and to others loyal, him tithes and offerings to to promote the proclamation of His gospel and the growth of his community. With the stewardship God gives us an opportunity to grow in love and overcome selfishness and greed. The steward pleased about the blessings that others receive through his faithfulness.

 Christian Lifestyle

We are called to be a godly people who think in accordance with the principles of God's word, feels and acts. Thus the Holy Spirit can manifest a Christ-like character in us, we involve ourselves with what encourages us in purity, health and joy. Leisure and entertainment to the high standards of taste and beauty meet, they are proportionate to the Christian faith. While recognizing cultural differences, we are careful, simple, decent and tasteful to dress us; because true beauty is not in externals, but in the imperishable ornament of a gentle and quiet spirit. This also includes that we take care of our body, which is a temple of the Holy Spirit in a reasonable manner. Along with adequate exercise and rest, we eat as healthy as possible and abstain from food, which are referred to in the Scriptures as unclean. We also include alcoholic beverages, tobacco, drugs and any reject the abuse of drugs, because they are harmful. Instead, we focus on what makes our thoughts and our bodies under the influence of Christ. He wants us to joy, health and welfare.

 marriage and family

The marriage of God used in the Garden of Eden and confirmed by Jesus Christ, is to be a lifelong union between a man and a woman in a loving companionship. For the Christian vows both God and the spouse is considered over. A marriage should be entered into only between partners shared faith. Mutual love, honor, respect, and responsibility are the foundation of marriage. They should reflect the love, sanctity, closeness, and permanence of the relationship between Christ and His church. Jesus taught that adultery, whoever divorces his spouse - unless for fornication - and marries another. Even if some family circumstances are not ideal, can nevertheless spouses who hold each other in Christ, renew through the guidance of the Spirit and the assistance of the community share their love and remain connected. God bless the family and wants the family members stand on the way to full maturity today. Parents should educate their children so that they learn to love the Lord and obey him. By word and example parents should guide their children to the realization that Christ is a loving disciplinarian, ever tender and caring, who wants to make them members of his body, the family of God. to strengthen the cohesion of the family is a special concern of proclaiming the Gospel in the end times.

Service in the heavenly sanctuary Christ

There is a sanctuary in heaven, the true tabernacle which the Lord pitched, and not man. There is Christ for us and makes the believers offering His atoning sacrifice that one has been accomplished once and for all on the cross, accessible. With his ascension he was inaugurated as our great High Priest and began His service. At the end of the prophetic period of the 2300 days in 1844, the second and final phase of his atoning ministry. It initiates the court before the second coming of Christ and belongs to the final disposal of sin, as it was represented by the purification of the Old Testament sanctuary on the Day of Atonement. The earthly image of the heavenly sanctuary was cleansed with the blood of animal sacrifices; for real, the heavenly sanctuary was a better sacrifice needed: the perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The court before the second coming of Jesus reveals the heavenly beings who died in faith in the Lord and through him is worthy to partake of the first resurrection. It also shows who among the living communion with Christ, holds on to the commandments of God and kept the faith in Jesus - that is ready for conversion to the entrance into God's eternal kingdom. This dish proves the justice of God, who saves those who believe in Jesus Christ. It confirms that all that God remained faithful, shall receive the kingdom. When Christ completes this service before his coming, the time of grace has expired for the people.

 The Return of Christ

The second coming of Christ is the joyous hope of the church. With him the story reaches its climax, as attested the gospel. The Savior is literal, personal, visible, and worldwide. When he returns, the righteous dead will be resurrected and glorified taken to heaven together with the righteous living; but the unrighteous will die. The fulfillment of most lines of prophecy, and the current state of the world, indicates that Christ's coming is near. The time of that event has not been revealed; therefore we are asked at any time to be ready.

 Death and resurrection

The wages of sin is death. But God, who alone is immortal, will grant His redeemed eternal life. Until that day all dead people are in an unconscious state. When Christ who is our life, appears, the resurrected righteous and the living righteous will be glorified and caught up to meet their Lord. This is the first resurrection. The second resurrection, the resurrection of the unjust happens a thousand years later.

The Millennium and the End of Sin

The Millennium covers the thousand years between the first and second resurrection in which Christ reigns with his saints in heaven. During this time will be judged the unredeemed dead. The earth is in a desolate condition; without living human inhabitants, only Satan and his angels. At the end of the thousand years Christ with His saints and the Holy City from heaven to earth. Then the unrighteous will be resurrected from death. With Satan and his angels will surround the Holy City. But fire from God will consume them and cleanse the earth. The universe will forever freed of sin and sinners.

 The New Earth

On the new earth in which there is finally justice, God will provide an eternal home for the redeemed, a perfect environment for everlasting life, love, joy, and the growing recognition in his presence. God Himself will dwell among His people. Suffering and death will be no more. The big fight is over. Never again there will be sin. All things, animate and inanimate, will declare that God is love. He will reign forever.
